Planned Giving (Tennessee)

Dede WallaceAs Centerstone grows and matures as one of the nation's largest behavioral healthcare providers, we are constantly looking for ways to safeguard our mission - "to prevent and cure behavioral health disorders."

That is why Centerstone has established the Dede Wallace Society, which recognizes individuals who have generously included Centerstone in their estate planning.

The Dede Wallace Society is named in honor of Louise Bullard Wallace, affectionately known as Dede. In the early 1960s, at a time when the stigma of mental illness was even stronger than it is today, Dede reached out to those who were suffering in silence. A mother of four, she somehow found the time to give back to her community. Working tirelessly as a Junior League volunteer, she helped women and children who were fighting mental illness. Her dedication to people from all walks of life helped motivate an entire community to begin addressing the many mental and emotional healthcare needs of its citizens.

Tragically, Dede's life was cut short in 1969. She was only 34 years old. In 1970, the Nashville Mental Health Center was renamed the Dede Wallace Center. In 1997, the Dede Wallace Center became part of Centerstone.

There are many ways you can plan a gift that will have a significant impact on the future of Centerstone and your community. Some gifts have immediate income tax benefits, while others reduce tax in your estate. Some pay an income to you - or someone you select - while others are put to work meeting the mental healthcare needs of the community right away.

Think about the impact you want to have on your family and Centerstone, and then contact your legal and/or financial advisors to select the gift that best meets your needs.

Here are just a few of the financial giving opportunities that qualify you for membership in the Dede Wallace Society:

  • Bequests
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Charitable Lead Trust
  • Life Insurance
  • Qualified Retirement Plans and IRAs
  • Cash and Appreciated Securities Gifts to Endowment

These options offer you an outstanding chance to protect the financial future of your loved ones and support mental healthcare in your community, all at the same time. Please consider becoming a member of the Dede Wallace Society today - and let us know when you do. If you'd like more information about these options or help in getting started, contact us at
