Centerstone receives grant from St. Louis Area Foodbank

Centerstone has been awarded a $550 grant as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) from the St. Louis Area Foodbank (SLAFB).

“We are very grateful for the equipment and support as both are needed during this time to keep our clients and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Helen Blackburn, executive director for Intellectual/Development Disability (I/DD) Services and Clinical Director of Vocational Rehabilitation Services at Centerstone.

Centerstone’s mental illness group homes were awarded PPE, while Centerstone’s I/DD group homes were awarded $550 and PPE. The SLAFB grant money is intended to help alleviate costs directly related to food distribution in response to the increased need during the COVID-19 outbreak.

“The money will be used for acquiring and distributing food, including purchasing food, facility equipment, food safety equipment and screening equipment,” Blackburn said.

For information on giving to Centerstone, please visit centerstone.org/give or contact Jocelyn Popit, Director of Advancement, at Jocelyn.popit@centerstone.org.

“Extraordinary care delivery is happening every day as we adapt to the challenges presented by this pandemic,” Popit said. “Please join us in providing mental health services to those who need it most, and help us continue to prepare for a future where there are no barriers to care.”

During the current COVID-19 crisis, Centerstone remains fully operational and continuing to serve our clients and communities. As always, the health and well-being of our clients, staff and community stakeholders is our main priority. We have implemented system-wide strategies that reduce the risk of exposure while preparing us to respond effectively in the event the current threat level escalates. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure at this time, almost all appointments are being conducted via telehealth.
