Bring hope with a Be Well Bell

In the 1950s, Mental Health America unveiled the “Bell of Hope”. Made with the discarded chains and shackles from asylums, once used as restraints during treatment, they transformed the relics of a cruel past into a powerful symbol of progress.

You can help carry this story forward and ring in a new era of mental healthcare in our communities. By installing a custom designed Be Well Bell, you can help break down stigma, inspire hope, and open conversations about support and resources.

Be Well Bells Include: Custom decorated sculpture designed by local artists, interpretive plaque, and 2 Be Well Interactive Experiences

Be Well Moment: A Free Practice for Self-Care

Episode 16 | Season 2

One of the most effective self-care tools is free, accessible, and already with you: your breath. In this Be Well Moment, the Besties practice cyclical sighing, a simple breathing technique that can be used during moments of stress, overwhelm, or fatigue. This short guided practice invites us to slow down, notice our breath, and return to it as many times as we need. For more on meaningful self-care without a price tag, start with Episode 15.

Why Self-Care Isn’t Something You Buy

Episode 2 | Season 15

Buying self-care is not the same as practicing it. In this episode, the Be Well Besties are joined by Brittany McCrady, Director of Clinical Services with Centerstone of Illinois, for a conversation about what self-care really looks like when life is full, stressful, and hard to regulate. Together, they explore why the self-care you can buy may be the smallest part of what actually helps, and how boundaries, personal values, and preparation can help us build care that actually supports our real lives.

Be Well Moment: Exploring Your Clothing Preferences

Episode 14 | Season 2

Getting dressed can be an act of self-trust. In this Be Well Moment, the Besties guide a short mindfulness practice for exploring clothing preferences, sensory input, and the small choices that can help us feel more grounded, confident, comfortable, or supported. This episode invites us to look at what is already in our closets with more curiosity and less judgment, using texture, color, fit, and personal preference as everyday tools for brain care. Your preferences are data, Besties, and getting dressed can be one small way to listen.
