FREE training on Zoom | July 29 & 30, 10 – 11 a.m. | CEUs available
Safe Zone training offers opportunities to provide support to LGBTQIA+ individuals in our community. This training will be available to community members, and the information is widely applicable to anyone in the health and human services field. In particular, however, for behavioral health staff, these professionals must be aware of best practice with creating safes paces and identifying each client as the individual they are and not merely what is listed on their insurance card (legal name, etc). With a safe space, the client/patient may not reveal aspects of their person which may be critical for addressing mental health and/or substance use disorder needs.
This training has 2 hours of continuing education approved for IL LCPC / LPC,IL LCSW / LSW, and IL Nursing (LPN, RN, APN) under IDFPR Professional Counselor CE License No.197.000263 and IDFPR Nurse CE Sponsor License No.236.000184.
Objectives: 1. Learn information regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and the complexity of sexuality and gender 2. Gain understanding of how to promote inclusive habits in interaction with clients, the office, and across the agency 3. Gain insight in providing support to LGBTQIA+ clients, colleagues, and the community.
