Nashville, Tenn. — Centerstone, Middle Tennessee’s leading provider of behavioral health services, has announced the addition of Mary Kerwin, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, to its Clarksville facility in the Centerstone Associates private specialty group practice.
Centerstone Associates, a division of Centerstone, contracts with businesses to provide a broad range of behavioral health services for employees and their families.
Kerwin specializes in counseling and therapy on family issues. She has created a new play therapy room as part of Centerstone Associate’s expanded services for children. In addition, Kerwin has developed group therapy programs for issues including parenting and bereavement. She is also concentrating her client services to address the needs of both adult and child victims of abuse.
“Mary is providing important services using both traditional and interactive methods such as play therapy with children,” said Kristy O. Strain, practice manager for Centerstone Associates. “Her intense focus on family matters is a valuable resource for the Clarksville community. We are pleased she has chosen Centerstone Associates for her professional home.”
Prior to joining Centerstone, Kerwin provided outpatient individual, family and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, parents and families at Cumberland County Mental Health Center in Fayetteville, NC. She also served as an adult and child therapist for The Guidance Center in Bradford, PA, and as a therapist for the Monsignor Carr Institute in Buffalo, NY. She began her career at the Cantalician Center for Learning in Buffalo, providing home-based therapy for developmentally disabled individuals. Kerwin is a Certified Forensic Examiner and an Expert Witness for the United States Attorney’s Office on child sexual victimization. She is also a member of the Cumberland County Sexual Assault Response Team. Kerwin received her B.A. in psychology from St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, NY, and her M.S.S.W. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
