Centerstone Expands Foster Care Services to Upper Cumberland Region

Organization widens reach to offer nurturing support services for children and adolescents in 14 new counties in Tennessee

Nashville, Tenn. – Centerstone, one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit providers of community-based mental health and addiction services, today announced the expansion of its Therapeutic Foster Care Services to include residents of Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, Warren and White counties. The organization will serve children between 12 and 18 years old who have been placed in state custody.

“We are thrilled to offer Centerstone’s Therapeutic Foster Care Services to residents of the Upper Cumberland region,” said John Page, COO of Centerstone’s Specialized Services. “Our program will help children in this area find a loving, safe and supportive home environment. As our services continue to grow, we hope more people will become involved and consider becoming foster parents.”

Centerstone has begun training local families through a four-week certification course titled “Parents As Tender Healers,” or PATH, a requirement for all foster parents. PATH is designed to equip parents with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of the child welfare system, effective discipline, first aid and CPR, medication administration and other physical and emotional needs their adoptive or foster children may have.
