This Thursday, October 6, is National Depression Screening Day
Centerstone, a not-for-profit organization providing a wide range of mental health and addiction services, is offering a free, anonymous online depression screening through its website at centerstone.org/resources. In honor of National Depression Screening Day on October 6, Centerstone encourages people everywhere to take the web-based screening at any time which can provide important information on whether individuals may be experiencing depression and how to access local treatment resources.
Developed by Screening for Mental Health, Inc., the online depression self-evaluation walks users through possible symptoms and offers instant feedback on available resources, all from the privacy of their own homes. As part of the online screening program, participants will answer a series of questions about their moods. Questions include:
- Have you lost pleasure in things you used to enjoy?
- Do you have trouble sleeping or eating?
- Does your mood fluctuate from overly “high” to sad and hopeless?
- Are you keyed up and anxious all the time?
- Do you suffer from unexplained aches and pains?
After completing the self-assessment, participants receive immediate feedback, as well as referral information on how to access local treatment resources, plus links to related articles and resources. In addition to the depression screening, Centerstone offers a mental health screening, stress evaluation and anxiety evaluation, all available at www.centerstone.org. For individuals with immediate needs, Centerstone offers a 24/7 crisis intervention hotline at (800) 681-7444.
