Centerstone Partners with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) for Day of Community Service

Centerstone chosen as not-for-profit partner in HCA’s largest day of volunteerism

Nashville, Tenn.—On Thursday, September 29, 20 HCA employees spent the day donating their time and energy to Centerstone’s Ella Hayes Center in Nashville. Centerstone, the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of community-based mental health and addiction services, was one of the many non-profits in Middle Tennessee that HCA partnered with as part of their Community Day 2011.

“We are so pleased that Centerstone was chosen as one of the recipients of the HCA employees’ volunteer efforts through this day of service,” said John Page, Centerstone Chief Operating Officer for Specialized Mental Health Services. “At Centerstone, we work every day to provide the quality care that our clients deserve and be sure they have the best possible experience when they enter our doors. The work that the HCA employees did in and around our facility only further enhances the experience for the families we serve.”

HCA conducts its annual Community Day with the goal of not only supporting the needs of its partner agencies, like Centerstone, but also to expose its employees to a wider range of community organizations. In 2010, 1,734 HCA employees volunteered with 116 projects, donating more than 10,000 volunteer hours.

As part of the volunteerism at Centerstone, the employees did some landscaping and gardening on the grounds of Centerstone’s Ella Hayes Center located in downtown Nashville. The outdoor space is primarily utilized by Centerstone’s Psychosocial Program, a peer support program where individuals gain confidence, build social skills, develop new friendships and engage in learning activities with peers.
