Nashville, Tenn. and Bloomington, Ind.—Centerstone Research Institute (CRI), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving mental healthcare through research and information technology, today announced that its Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dennis Morrison has been named to the Ball State University Teachers College Board of Directors. Dr. Morrison received a bachelors of science in Psychology & Biological Sciences, masters degrees in counseling psychology, mammalian physiology and exercise physiology, and a PhD in counseling psychology from Ball State.
“In my time at Ball State University, I was taught by some of the finest professors and psychology experts in the nation and equipped with the tools and resources necessary to become not only a successful healthcare executive, but a well-rounded individual,” said Dr. Morrison. “To serve my alma mater in this capacity is a true honor, and I look forward to enhancing the student and alumni experience and working directly with a school for which I have such a profound admiration.”
The Board of Directors is the coordinating group for all Teachers College alumni programming. As a member, Dr. Morrison will participate in the selection of scholarship recipients, award alumni grants, learn about significant Teachers College activities, direct alumni events and advise the dean regarding future initiatives.
Prior to joining CRI, Dr. Morrison served as Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Behavioral Health in Bloomington, a position he held for more than 13 years. Before that, he served the United States Navy as an aerospace physiologist where he trained members of TOPGUN in aviation physiology and water survival. He also taught aerospace physiology at Indiana State University where he was an adjunct professor in the Aviation Technology Department.
Dr. Morrison serves as founding board member at International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership (IIMHL), a forum for mental health chief executives and governmental leaders in the United States, England, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland and Canada to share best practices in mental health management and governance.
