Richmond, Ind.—Kathryn Whittington, PhD, former chief executive officer (CEO) of Dunn Mental Health Center in Richmond, Ind., and currently chief implementation officer for Centerstone of Indiana, is named as Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Champion.” The honor salutes individuals whose work provides outstanding service to the Wayne County Area Community.
According the chamber’s nomination materials, “A Chamber Champion is a person who may be described as an excellent example of Hoosier hospitality or a person who exemplifies the best-known Midwest work ethic. They are dependable, friendly, caring and honorable. Whether guiding a large organization, caring for the sick, or serving at the front counter, the Chamber Champion is highly respected for the good work she or he does.”
Whittington was nominated for the award by Susan Markley, LMHC, senior consultant for Centerstone Research Institute, who described her former CEO’s history of dedication, “Kay was very active in the chamber committees and the work associated with building a stronger chamber. She has served on other multiple boards of directors and successfully led Dunn Center through financial difficulties, saving hundreds of jobs. She is a Chamber Champion!”
