Gold Skin Care Center offers Centerstone clients a chance to erase painful memories through complimentary tattoo removal sessions
Nashville, Tenn. – On January 13, Nashville-based Gold Skin Care Center began implementing a life-changing service for several Middle Tennesseans with a mental health or addiction disorder. Clients of Centerstone, the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of community-based mental health and addiction services, received the service completely free of charge, thanks to Gold Skin Care Center.
Beginning this month, Gold Skin Care Center is offering complimentary tattoo removal services to eligible Centerstone clients who find their tattoos to be a painful reminder of the past, a barrier to finding employment or a hindrance to their overall recovery.
“Tattoos can be a barrier to our patients’ recovery for a number of reasons,” said Dr. Karen Rhea, Chief Medical Officer for Centerstone. “Often, tattoos on the face, neck, hands and other places that cannot be easily concealed may prevent our patients from getting jobs or housing and from readjusting to society as part of their recovery. Or, in some cases like we saw on January 13, tattoos represent a permanent, everyday reminder of a traumatic past. They are a reminder of a time in our patients’ lives that they desperately want to move past as part of their recovery.”
According to Dr. Michael H. Gold, founder and Medical Director of Gold Skin Care Center, people often experience buyer’s remorse when it comes to tattoos. For Centerstone patients like Ronnie Farmer, Jr., the remorse is so deep it is a barrier to his recovery.
“I’d rather not live with these memories and just try to move forward and not backwards,” said Ronnie Farmer, Jr., a Centerstone client who underwent his first tattoo removal session at Gold Skin Care Center on January 13.
Centerstone clients who began tattoo removal treatments this month will continue with subsequent sessions until the tattoo is completely removed. Depending on the size of the tattoo, ink and several other variables, tattoos can be removed in as few as one session or may take several visits. This is an ongoing opportunity for Centerstone clients, and Gold Skin Care Center will continue treating patients until all eligible individuals have received services.
“We have been very pleased with the response to our tattoo removal program with Centerstone,” said Dr. Gold. “The opportunity to give back to the community in this meaningful way is important to me and to all of the staff of Gold Skin Care Center. We pride ourselves on cutting edge service and cutting edge laser technology. So, we are thrilled to be able to provide our tattoo removal services to these individuals who have dedicated themselves to improving their self-images and making their appearance an important part of who they are and who they want to be.”
