Nashville, Tenn. — In December, Loews Vanderbilt Hotel will once again host A Gingerbread World. In its 23rd year, the holiday event will benefit children and youth counseling programs at Centerstone, Tennessee’s leading provider of behavioral health services.
A Gingerbread World was the creative idea of Loews Vanderbilt Hotel’s vice president, Irwin Fisher, who was seeking a way to bring more visitors to the hotel during the holidays, while at the same time creating a fundraiser to benefit children, fitting within the Loews Hotel’s national philanthropic mission of caring for kids.
“A Gingerbread World is the perfect fit — a fun event bringing children and families to the hotel, and more importantly, one that benefits our community’s most vulnerable children and families through Centerstone,” says Fisher. “A Gingerbread World is the ideal way to start the holidays. The event has something for everyone.”
“We are grateful for the continued generosity of Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Through this partnership, over $650,000 has been raised and countless families helped. It is extremely gratifying to be part of such a rich Nashville tradition,” says Laura Allen, vice president for development at Centerstone.
A Gingerbread World features two events:
Ginger’s Night Out, a ladies-only evening, is scheduled for Tuesday, December 11 from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel Skylight Foyer. Surrounded with lively friendship, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres, grown-up girls will create their own gingerbread houses to display during the holiday season.
The Children’s Gingerbread Workshop is scheduled for Sunday, December 16, in the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel Symphony Ballroom from 2:00-4:00 PM. The workshop is the perfect way for parents (or grandparents) to spend a fun-filled afternoon with their children. Children will enjoy decorating a gingerbread house and then a visit with Spiderman and Cinderella. Light refreshments will be served.
More than 300 guests are expected to attend the events that constitute this year’s A Gingerbread World. Costs for the event are $70 per house for the Children’s Gingerbread Workshop and $85 per person for Ginger’s Night Out.
A Gingerbread World is sponsored by Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Publix Supermarket Charities, The Print Authority and Ricoh Business Solutions. For more information or to make reservations, contact Centerstone’s special events office at (615) 463-6643.
