Bloomington, Ind.—Centerstone will host a two-day workshop, “Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training” (ASIST) on July 28 and 29, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Centerstone (645 S. Rogers St.—Bloomington). Space is limited to 30 participants; attendance on both days is mandatory (integral to training’s success); and the registration fee is $75 (which covers training manuals, lunches and snacks).
ASIST is a two-day, intensive, interactive and practice-dominated course designed to help individuals recognize risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. ASIST is designed to help all caregivers become more willing, ready and able to help persons at risk. The emphasis of the workshop is on suicide FIRST AID—helping a person at risk stay safe and seek further help. Continuing education credits will be available with on site application.
