If you are working with a family and there is parental or caregiver substance abuse, Centerstone Therapeutic Intervention, Education and Skills may be able to provide in-home services. Therapeutic Intervention, Education and Skills will provide in-home interventions to the family for a minimum of 8 hours per week for a maximum of 6 weeks. Therapeutic Intervention, Education and Skills accepts referrals in Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Davidson, Rutherford, Marshall and Warren counties. This is a grant funded Intensive Family Preservation Services (IFPS) program through the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and there is no cost to the Department of Children's Services (DCS) or the families enrolled.

Therapeutic Intervention, Education and Skills provides intensive family preservation services to parents of children, ages 0-18, who are at risk of losing custody due to parental alcohol or substance use disorder or who have a child in state custody who will be returning to the home within 72 hours. Therapeutic Intervention, Education and Skills therapists are all masters level providers who will spend approximately 8 to 10 hours each week in the family home working on goals identified by DCS, the family and the therapist.

To be eligible, the parent or caregiver must have an identified substance abuse issue, be agreeable to services and have a child who is: At risk of out-of-home placement or currently in state custody and expected to be reunited with their family within 72 hours.

Additionally

  • Parent[s] guardian with the drug or alcohol issues must reside with the child
  • DCS should contact the family before making the referral to describe Therapeutic Intervention, Education and Skills services and explain we will be in the home 8 to 10 hours per week for 4 to 6 weeks
  • IPA’s; Perm Plans; FAST; should be e-mail as soon as possible.
