Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is one of the most effective treatments for PTSD, with the largest empirical data over the past few decades. It includes four main components: 1) In vivo exposure to avoided situations 2) Revisiting and processing trauma memories 3) Education on trauma reactions 4) Breathing retraining.
