Achievable Wellness Goals: Setting Intention for the New Year

The New Year can inspire many of us to create both personal and professional goals to improve our wellness. However, unrealistic resolutions can create hiccups or bumps in the road. The solution to this is simple – create practical wellness resolutions that closely align with your lifestyle and can easily fit into your day-to-day routine. Here are nine resolutions you can realistically accomplish in 2025:

Move Your Body

If long and intense workouts have been unsuccessful for you in the past, try shifting that your mindset and instead, aim to move your body in other ways you enjoy. Whether it’s a 10-minute walk, yoga, or taking a dance class, consistency is more important than intensity!

    Prioritize Sleep

Quality sleep is the foundation for overall health and well-being. Try to set a realistic bed time, limit screen time before bed, and create a calming night time routine that you can do daily.

    Hydrate

The power of hydration can often be overlooked; organ function, temperature regulation, improved cognition, and improved skin health are some of the many benefits of proper hydration. Set a goal to drink a certain number of ounces per day, and keep a reusable water bottle with you as a reminder.

    Cook More Meals at Home

Not only can preparing meals at home give you more control over your nutrition, but it can also turn into a fun hobby! If cooking all your meals at home sounds unrealistic or overwhelming, start small by committing to cooking just one additional meal at home per week.

    Practice Gratitude Daily

There are several different ways one can express the things they’re grateful for. Practicing gratitude daily can boost your self-esteem, increase your self-awareness, and create positive thinking habits!

    Reduce Screen Time

Remember to treat your eyes, and mind, to regular screen breaks throughout the day. Excessive screen time can negatively alter our sleep schedules and can contribute to feelings of depression and anxiety. Here are some more benefits to unplugging.

    Prioritize Regular “Me Time”

Set aside time daily or weekly to focus on yourself. Whether it’s reading, taking a bath, or engaging in a fun hobby, prioritizing yourself can help keep your mental and emotional health balanced.

    Practice Mindful Eating

Dieting can be difficult and even triggering for some people which is why it may be helpful to practice mindful eating instead. Focus on being present during meals by chewing slowly and being aware of your body’s hunger and fullness cues.

    Aim for Progress, Not Perfection

Focusing on progress rather than perfection encourages us to stay motivated and celebrate the small wins. Consider using a journal, app, or checklist to track your habits to easily see your progress each day!

Why do these resolutions work? They are all specific, flexible, and realistic. By prioritizing consistency and self-compassion, you are more likely to stay on track with your resolutions and achieve your goals throughout the year.
