Synopsis of Training:

This training will give practice tips for incorporating the Brief Negotiated Interview (BNI) with adolescents and caregivers specifically. The BNI is a structured short evidence-based conversation often used by healthcare professionals to help patients recognize risky behaviors and motivate them to change.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe core elements of a Brief Negotiated Interview (BNI)
2. Identify best practices within a BNI
3. Explain how a BNI can prompt behavior change
4. Explain unique considerations for a BNI with adolescents or caregivers
