Centerstone earns Best for Vets recognition from Military Times

Centerstone has been named to Military Times’ Best for Vets! The Military Times’ Best for Vets recognition is a comprehensive annual ranking of the country’s best employers and organizations with military-connected employment programs, benefits and support efforts. The survey is designed to identify and highlight the efforts that organizations like Centerstone make to recruit, retain, and support current and former service members, military spouses, and military caregivers.

230 employers from across the nation made the list this year, and Centerstone ranked as 154th overall. In the healthcare category, however, Centerstone came in at number 17 on the list.  Additionally, for Tennessee-based organizations Centerstone came in strong at 6th place!

“Members of our nation’s military community are heroes and deserve workplaces that honor the significant sacrifices they make so that we can all enjoy the freedoms that we have,” said Dr. Jason Hernández, Centerstone’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “As such, Centerstone as an organization has gone to great lengths over the last few years to ensure we are taking the best care of our staff members who are veterans, active duty military, and military spouses or caregivers. This incredible recognition is a testament to that work.”

The Best for Vets survey considers objectives such as military-friendly recruitment practices, retention and support programs, recognition of service, benefits, and professional development opportunities.  Just a few of Centerstone’s military-friendly benefits include the Veterans and Military Families Employee Resource Group, gap pay benefits for staff members returning to active duty, remote and hybrid work options, as well as paid leave benefits for active duty military families experiencing a permanent change of station.

“Centerstone’s Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Leave Policy has had a huge impact on my life,” said Cailia Holm, Case Manager with the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone. “My husband is Active Duty Army, and we have had to move the past two summers in a row, with another one on deck. This summer I was able to use the paid PCS Leave. During these two weeks I was able to have my household packed, drive three days cross country with the kids and pets, have HHGs delivered, unpack, start kids in daycare and summer camp, and complete other in-processing requirements. On the backend, I now have the PTO in case my kids get sick, in order to attend appointments to establish care with PCPs, veterinarians, dentists, etc. and generally be able to take time to take care of myself so that I can be my best self for my clients.”
