Month of the Military Child Carnival Brings Smiles to Hundreds
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone asked the community to “step right up” to celebrate our nation’s littlest heroes, and step right up they did! In honor of the Month of the Military Child the clinic hosted its first ever do-it-yourself carnival and community partners from around the area helped bring smiles to hundreds of military families.
“We wanted to put on an event that would be fun for the whole family,” Meghan Williams, the clinic’s outreach director explained. “What’s more fun than a carnival? Our friends in the community seemed to agree and all pitched in to make this event one for the record books.”
The clinic received an outpouring of support from fellow military serving organizations who created carnival games complete with prizes for the kids and brought along valuable resource information for the parents. The event also featured special sponsorship attractions such as a dunking booth provided by Omni Financial, a bouncy house sponsored by The Home Network, two magic shows courtesy of Blue Star Families, a chance to take a turn at axe throwing thanks to the Flip’N Axe, shoot hoops with APSU basketball players, enjoy free hotdogs and snacks courtesy of the Marine Corp League and top it all off with ice cream thanks to First Command.
“Our community made this event so special,” Williams said. “We couldn’t be more grateful to our partners. It was absolutely heartwarming to see so many groups come together to ensure our military families were given a day to remember.”
