TAPS: Support is here for Families of Fallen Heroes

Families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation are not alone thanks to a new partnership.  The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics at Centerstone are honored to collaborate with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) to offer Care Groups in both the Jacksonville, FL and Clarksville TN areas where the Cohen Clinics at Centerstone reside.

TAPS has a mission to facilitate peer-based emotional support and assistance for those whose loved ones died while serving in, or in support of, the armed forces.  Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24/7 through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.  This caring organization has assisted more than 90,000 surviving families, casualty officers and caregivers, providing a variety of programs to survivors across the country.

Now, by joining forces with the Cohen Clinics at Centerstone, TAPS is expanding that support to military families in Tennessee and Florida.

“These TAP Care Groups will provide survivors a chance to remember the love and celebrate the life of their loved one and share the journey of grief with those who truly understand,” Jessie Eisenmann Klamar, a Cohen Veterans Network fellow and co-facilitator of the groups, said. “We hope to provide grief support services and education for “survivors”: families, individuals, and couples dealing with loss of a military service member by providing time to talk, opportunities to listen, and the precious feeling of knowing they are not alone.”
