First Town Hall to Bring Veteran Service Organizations Together

Fayetteville veterans and military families can trust local veteran service organizations stand ready to support them thanks to an upcoming town hall.

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone, here in Fayetteville, N.C. will host its first Virtual Veteran Services Town Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., featuring a number of organizations dedicated to ensuring local military families get the best possible care and assistance. Immediately following the formal portion of the town hall, there will be a follow-on question and answer forum from 1 to 1:30 p.m. for those who choose to participate.

“We wanted to create a space where those who provide services to our veterans, as well as military families themselves, can come together to learn more about resources in our area,” Lisa Eggebeen, Regional Director of the Cohen Clinics at Centerstone said. “We’ve all had to adjust to today’s current physical distancing recommendations, so we felt it was imperative that we understand where each service stands, how veterans and their loved ones can receive the help they may need and continue to strengthen our community by working together.”

Town Hall participants will include representatives from: Team Unbroken, Hopeway, Cumberland County Schools, American Red Cross, Veterans Bridge Home, Wounded Warrior Project and more. Organizations will have time to explain how they have adapted to COVID-19 operating guidelines, as well as what services they continue to provide for military families and veterans in need.

“Our sister clinics in both Clarksville, Tenn. and Jacksonville Fla. have hosted similar events in their communities with great success,” says Sharjuan Burgos, Clinic Outreach Director. “We’re hoping to continue that success here in our area and ensure our military families are aware of what is available to them and that our fellow providers are working together to best serve this deserving population.”

The Virtual Veteran Service Town Hall is open to the community at large.
