Day of Giving – Rock Solid Hope
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone team is spreading hope in a rock solid way. In an effort to give back to the community and inspire positivity, staff members got crafty recently by covering rocks with messages of love.
“We wanted to do something different to brighten people’s day in our community,” Jennifer Smith, Clinic Director said. “I’ve watched my own kids light up when they find a colorful painted rock left by some kind person for another to find and I thought, ‘what a great way to spread a little joy’ so we broke out our paints and brushes and set out to spark some smiles.”
The team gathered in the clinic’s community room for the Day of Giving effort, each free to get creative and cover countless rocks with inspirational thoughts.
“It was a wonderful day of sharing hope,” Julie Adams, the Clinic’s Assistant Director said. “We had a lot of fun as a team, but more importantly, we were able to share those positive thoughts with others in a unique way.”
After crafting their creations, each team member chose locations throughout the community to leave their decorated rocks – some choosing areas downtown, others throughout their neighborhoods.
“You may never know where you may find one,” Smith said. “We just hope that those who do pick up one of our rocks smile and have a great day on us.”
