Teaming Up for PTSD Awareness and Healing

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone in Jacksonville, FL is teaming up with Ascension St. Vincent’s to ensure veterans and military families struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) receive the care they need.

June is national Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) month and both the Cohen Clinic at Centerstone and Ascension remain committed to assisting those who may suffer from this trying condition.

“While PTSD may be commonly associated with military veterans, it can happen to anyone who experiences a frightening, horrible or traumatic event,” Elizabeth Sherr, the Director of the Cohen Clinic at Centerstone said. “Men, women, and children can experience PTSD as a result of trauma in their lives. Events due to combat, accidents, disasters, and abuse are just a few of the causes of PSTD. Unfortunately, no matter the reason not everyone seeks help. We don’t want anyone to suffer in silence. PTSD is treatable and we’re here to help.”

That’s where Ascension and the Cohen Clinic at Centerstone hope to make a difference. Through social media and other outlets Ascension is encouraging those who have may be affected by PTSD to utilize a short screening tool they provide to help determine if someone should seek care for PTSD. https://www.facebook.com/AscensionStVincentsJax/photos/a.478788160298/10161144193530299/  Veterans and military family members who answer yes to three or more of the questions are encouraged to contact the Cohen Clinic at Centerstone Jacksonville to receive the support they’ve rightly earned.

“The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone is honored to collaborate with Ascension on behalf of veterans and military families,” Sherr said. “There is no shame in seeking assistance and we stand ready to help our nation’s heroes heal.”
