Verna Barlow, Corporate Executive Business Professional
My name is Verna Barlow, and I am a Corporate Executive Business Professional at Shared Services. It is my job to provide great customer service, either in person or by telephone. I greet all of our guests, manage incoming and outgoing mail, operate the multi-line switchboard and ensure the Centerstar and birthday recognition cards are sent out.
I started working at Centerstone three years ago at the front desk. I then moved to billing and accounts receivable before realizing I never should have left the front desk; there is no place like home! I love people and enjoy putting smiles on the faces of everyone who walks through our doors. I have a passion for the Centerstone mission and what it stands for!
I moved back to Kentucky four years ago from Henrico, Virginia where I worked at Bostwick Lab’s billing department. Prior to living in Virginia, I lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 10 years, and it is there that I received my associate’s degree.
I have one son, Magic, and two grandsons, Brennen and Reed. I enjoy talking, reading, fishing and being outdoors. I love the Harry Potter series and my favorite movie is Beaches with Bette Midler. I love elephants and have been collecting them since I was 16. At one time had over 4,000, but had to downsize a bit when I moved back to Kentucky. I find them to be very calming.
In my spare time, I ride with the HeaVHitter$ motorcycle club (biker chick)! Our club does a lot for our community, including holding a public summer picnic that fed over 600 people last year! We also volunteer at the Wayside Mission on Thanksgiving and help with Toys for Tots at Christmas. We also help individual families, as needed.
One thing that my mother used to say when I was growing up has always stayed with me, “Treat everyone the way you want to be treated, no matter what.”
