Peer Support Services at Capitol Hill in Nashville
Centerstone Peer Support Services staff and clients took part in Behavioral Health Day at Capitol Hill in Nashville on March 20 for a time of fun, fellowship, advocacy and education. Centerstone Peer Support Services provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals with mental illness or addiction gain confidence, build social skills, develop new friendships and engage in learning and leisure activities with peers.
During a program highlighting the Healing Arts Project, Inc. (HAPI), Tennessee Governor Bill Lee dropped by to see Peer Support Services in action. While there, he asked Rosie Morton, a peer coach with Centerstone’s PRAISE program, to describe one of her displayed artworks.
Eric Brito, a Centerstone peer educator, and Rosie were also asked to speak on one of the Day on the Hill panels about what art means to them.
